Steam-Pulp Noir Released
Written by Frank Van Camp

In 1930 there is lots of steam, much pulp and plenty of noir to go-round

We at visioNation studios are excited to announce the release of two new products, Hardened Heroes for CORE-7 and Hardened Heroes & Fiendish Foes for the RARE system.  These products have been in development for some time now.  Many of our friends and allies have been waiting for these to reach the open market.

It has been an interesting road to say the least.  A year of a tough economy and a complete turnaround within the studio itself, but we managed to pull together to continue to bring you creative products that we feel will provide long hours of imaginative role-playing.

Both products reflect a time when the world was entering a golden age of adventure.  In our world of the 1930's, the use of gasoline was viewed as too dangerous for personal use.  It was considered too volatile to use for any other reason than for bombs.  The world stayed with steam power.  Society used steam for everything, from generating energy to power a city to the transportation of people and goods.  The advances in steamology paved the way for "steamplugs", which are used as a replacement for our gasoline.  When your steamplug needs to be replaced, just pull it out and put in a new one.  Planes gather moisture from the air and ships pull up water and convert it to power.

Empire City is home to the famed Caldorian Explorers Society, which has its headquarters at the top of the Empire Trust Building.  Emerging onto the world scene now is villainy that has its hands in the future.  New technology is appearing and what was once considered science fiction is beginning to become reality.  Gadgets supplement a hero's inventory.

Do not confuse the term "Hero" for someone with super powers.  The heroes of this age are normal people doing heroic feats out of love and loyalty to their beloved United Republic of America and their E.U.R.O.P.A. allies.  When someone tries to destroy the world through their own dominating ideas, it will be you and your friends who will stand in their way.

This is a world of the pulp-hero, but with a twist.  Robots and ray guns are not imaginative toys, they are real weapons that confront the world daily.  So grab your jet-pack, "Typewriter" machine gun and buckle up for a ride down an alternate reality in the world that we call "Hardened Heroes."

The System is On!
Thursday, 09 July 2009 23:27

At long last, we've finally put the finishing touches on The CORE-7 System and have released it on RPGNow.  For anyone who has this perfect setting idea and no system can do it justice, this may just be for you.  Likewise, if you already enjoy a particular setting, but wish it came with different rules, try CORE-7 on for size.  Its class-less, level-less format provides easy transitions to and from just about any world you can dream up.  Wish you could participate in the adventures surrounding the characters on your favorite TV show?  CORE-7 provides you with the tools to do just that, regardless the genre or era.

Or, if you're just looking for fast paced action and an open style of building where you can watch your character grow each and every week by spending the Plot Points you have earned, all within a world that makes you want to jump in with both feet, try CORE-7 in conjunction with any one of our C7 settings.  These settings even stand on their own and are usable with nearly any other system available on the market.  How's that for flexibility?

CORE-7: Simple. Flexible. Fun.  Own it today.

Permanent Eclipse, Maximum Kaliber, and More!

We here at visioNation studios have been burrowed away in our little hobbit holes all summer long wrapping up a number of projects.  Starting now, and continuing through July, you'll be able to finally see the finished products.

This week, our conspiracy theory/relic hunter setting, Permanent Eclipse, is available.  70 full color pages detailing the events leading up to- and surrounding- the mystery of the year 2012.  Ancient artifacts of mysterious power are surfacing all across the globe faster than ever before.  You stand with the Foundation to ensure that these relics don't fall into the wrong hands.  Permanent Eclipse is designed for use with any system.

Next week, you will be able to step into the shoes of a rogue special agent in Maximum Kaliber.  When your agency turns on you, who can you trust?  This is a high stakes world in which every step could be your last and even your closest ally could turn out to be your worst enemy.  Maximum Kaliber is designed for use with any system.

Then, in mid-July, we will finally be unveiling CORE-7- the universal system that spawned all of our latest settings.  Centered on the ideas of Simple, Flexible, Fun, if the rules didn't fit all of these categories, we threw them out!  Longtime gamers will appreciate the ability to create anything your heart desires, and the openness of the system to mold in your hands.  New gamers will easily be able to jump right in with simple terminology and basic build/stat concepts that stay the same across the board.  And everyone should enjoy the fact that it's playable in any setting you can dream up!  CORE-7... the system is on in just a few short weeks.

And finally, we are putting the finishing touches on a new site feature and should soon be able to offer the visioNation storefront to all of our loyal citizens.  Here, you will be able to purchase any of our products in either digital or print format, directly from our website.  More details on this to come.  In the meantime, stop by, buy a book, and say hello!  We're looking forward to meeting you.
